It was an emotional day for Charlotte’s NFL team and fans yesterday. After seven years with the Panthers, quarterback Jake Delhomme was cut in a decision that was “tough” for head coach John Fox.
In a press conference the teary-eyed veteran said he was “blindsided” by the decision. After 18 interceptions in the 2009 season, I can’t see why.
Nonetheless, as a Panther’s fan, you have to love Delhomme. He’s the best quarterback in our history. He brought us to the Super Bowl and has been a good role model.
It’s sad that it’s the end of an era for the Panthers. Although, I look forward to see what Matt Moore will do next year. Besides the tears, Delhomme is also walking away with almost $13 million. I’m sure that will ease his pain. Now I just have to figure out what to do with my jersey.
