It can be so much fun having a pet but you also need to be responsible with your pets. These same critters who offer unconditional love also have an amazing knack for getting into things around the apartment. Pet-proofing or Pet-er-izing your apartment is part of the responsibility of being a pet owner and their safety is important as well as your sanity.
Here are a few areas of your apartment to check:
General – make sure your electric cords are bundled and any items that your pet could get hold of are off of the floor. Also, be careful about leaving things on the floor or with in reach of your pet, particularly teething animals!
Bathroom – Make sure all your medicines and toiletries are out of reach of the pet. Also keep the toilets closed to prevent the animals from falling in or drinking chemically contaminated water.
Laundry Area – make sure all cleaners and chemicals are up-high, out of reach of the pets. You should also make sure to check for kitties before starting the dryer.
