Hone your poetry skills in a poetry workshop being offered at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 2^nd from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. The workshop will be led by Tony Abbott, President of the North Carolina Poetry Society.

Warehouse Performing Art Center is located at 9216-A Westmoreland Road in Cornelius—8 miles from Abberly Green Apartment Homes.

Tony Abbott will offer a North Carolina Poetry Society Workshop entitled “The Process of Revision.” Cost of the worshop is $15.00 for members of the North Carolina Poetry Society and $25.00 for non-members. Using poems submitted by class participants and his own poems, Tony Abbott will take the class through the process of revision, working through the various questions poets must ask themselves as they move from first draft to the final poem.

The 70,000 foot go kart track, one of the largest indoor go kart tracks in the country, offers 20 challenging turns. Get ready for a rush of pure adrenaline because the go karts are capable of 45 mph (youth karts reach 35 mph) and there’s plenty of room for passing on the 20 foot wide track. For youth karts, the youth has to be between the ages of 8-15 and must stand 48 inches. They have seat cushions to help accommodate smaller youths. For the adult karts you have to be 16 or older.

The kids will love the laser tag arena (for ages 3 and up)  equipped with 72 black lights, a bass-pounding sound system, and a fog machine. Pretend you are the stars in a sci-fi movie whose mission is to eradicate the planet of hideous invading space aliens. Whatever your imagination dreams up, just bring plenty of friends—the more the better!

The arcade and billiards area offers over 40 arcade games and 4 billiards tables. Enjoy a game of pool while the kids play their games.

When you pair good food with great live music, you have a fun night out with friends. Here are three very different restaurants in Mooresville you might enjoy checking out this weekend!

Joker’s Dueling Piano’s Bar, located at 1459 River Highway, is a “rock-em, sock-em high energy sing-along show.” They serve pub food in a fun, festive atmosphere.

Three Goats is a unique restaurant with a unique name located at 12 Argus Lane. They serve coffee, bagels, and sandwiches and feature live music and jazz on select nights in a laid back atmosphere.

And finally, Big Al’s Pub & Grubberia has something for everyone in a casual atmosphere at the perfect “local hangout.” Located at 631 Brawley School Road, Suite 401, they showcase live entertainment Tuesday through Saturday.

Car shows are pretty fun events to attend. Whether you’re an aficionado of older models or new models, anyone who has a desire to check out automobiles of all shapes and sizes should head out to a car show. In some cases you can see model’s from past decades, which you would probably only find in history books, or some Hollywood blockbusters.

To attend a show where popular models from next year will be displayed is always pretty fun, as you get a sneak peek behind the curtain. Either way, if  the sound of an engine revving gets you pumped up then its definitely best to attend a car show.

For Abberly Green car enthusiasts, on the first Saturday of the month until October, Mooresville hosts the Mooresville Cruise-In Classic Car Show. According to the Moorseville website, car enthusiasts will bring out their classic automobiles for the one day show to display in downtown Moorseville. The event is free of charge to attend, though event organizers ask that people contribute a canned good or cash donation if possible, as these proceeds are given to the local Moorseville/ Lake Norman Mission.

As explained on the event’s’ website, only vehicles from 1979 and before can be displayed and includes a selection of “Rat Rods, Trucks, Classics, American Muscles”. Head here and here for more information.

Wine Tasting and Live Music

If you are looking for a great social event where you can have a good time and meet people then Wine Tasting and Live Music should be right up your alley.  This Friday, February the 11^th of 2011 the Wine Maestro Mooresville will be hosting a wine tasting event.  There will be at least 6 wines available for you to taste.  The tasting begins at 6:PM and the music will start around 7:PM.  This will be a great opportunity to socialize with some of your other Mooresville neighbors and friends.

If you’ve been a wine lover for years or you have just began to drink ad enjoy the stories behind the wine it doesn’t matter.  You can also learn about some of the other social wine events that Wine Maestro has coming up this month.

Remember to have a designated driver tag along with you.  Drinking and driving is not allowed no matter how responsible you think you might be.
