1. The Great Pumpkin Fest & SCarowinds

Carowinds
Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, September 15 - October 28

Tiny frights for the littlest goblins. During the day Carowinds offers family-friendly Halloween fun featuring a costume parade, foam zone, mazes and more. Then, at the stroke of 7, a faint mist falls over the park signifying the beginning of Scarowinds….be afraid….be very afraid.

2. Retro Horror Series

Ayrsley Grand Cinemas
September 21 – November 1

Double features, double scares. The Ayrsley Retro Horror Series returns for its 6th year with 6 weeks of classic horror films for $5. Catch Halloween classics like Night of the Living Dead and Frankenstein all throughout the month.

3. The 13th Acre

Monroe, NC at 3718 Plyler Mill Rd.
Fridays and Saturdays, September 28 – October 27

Screams and fright surround this Halloween Haunt. With a newly redesigned trail, characters that will keep you up at night and settings from your worst nightmare, it’s recommended that only the brave attempt to make it through The 13th Acre haunted trail. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

4. The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience

Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Carolina Rebellion Campground
October 4 – 28

From Oct. 4 to 28, experience the most epic pumpkin patch in town: 5,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns illuminating Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Carolina Rebellion Campground. Called THE GLOW, this family-friendly Halloween stroll features gourds shaped into all sorts of characters, historical figures and landscapes. Come face to face with 16-foot-tall dinosaurs in Pre-Historic Park, or watch as Captain Jack and his marauders helm a 30-foot-long pirate ship, complete with skeletons and pumpkin pirates. Along the 3-mile path, which is open from Thursday through Sunday, you’ll enjoy live demonstrations from The GLOW’s master carvers.

5. Scarrigan Farms

Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, starting October 5

Heart pumping, adrenaline rushing scares can be found at Scarrigan Farms this October. This is not a trail for kids, as even some of the adults can’t bear the horrors this trail has in store. If you’re up for the challenge, round up the squad and brace yourselves for a fright night.

6. Movie in the Woods - Hocus Pocus

Cabarrus Arena & Events Center
Saturday, October 13, 6pm – 11pm

Enjoy this Halloween classic under the stars during Movie in the Woods, an interactive experience to fully immerse you in this wicked tale of three witch sisters. Bring blankets/chairs and enjoy a night out with the family around the fire pit. The night will feature games, food trucks, costume contests and of course Witches.

7. NovelWeen - Noda's Halloween celebration

Sunday, October 14, 4pm-8pm

NoDaWeen 2018 is brewing up an exciting night for all. Live music by Captain Lunchbox/ Jon Linker is sure to bring out the treat-thirsty ghouls and goblins, while local breweries including Wooden Robot Brewery and Divine Barrel Brewing will keep the (witch’s) brews flowing for the adults. A trick-or-treating map will be provided with a listing of all of the night’s festivities.

8. Creepy Crawly Critter-ween

Reedy Creek Park and Nature Center
Friday, October 26, 5pm - 8:30pm

Critters of the night come out for this fun evening in the park. The family fun includes hayrides, close encounters with live animals, a campfire marshmallow roasting and night hike.

9. GUTS Pumpkin Carving Contest

BB&T Ballpark
Saturday, October 27 at 1:30pm

Going on 10 years in 2018, GUTS draws in competitors who want to show off their artistic pumpkin carving abilities for the sake of raising money for the Make-a-Wish foundation. Previous years have seen hand crafted designs of spooky skeletons and creepy smiling pumpkins. Competition is stiff, but it’s all for a good cause.

10. Halloween Spooktacular – Charlotte Symphony

Knight Theater
Saturday, October 27 at 11am

Frightful sounds will haunt the Knight Theater when the Charlotte Symphony presents their Halloween Spooktacular. Come in your best costume attire to hear Halloween-themed music including favorites from films like Harry Potter and Jaws.

11. Not-Too-Spooky Haunted Hall

NASCAR Hall of Fame
Saturday, October 27 at 6pm

A spooktacular night is in store at the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Not-Too-Spooky Haunted Hall. The Hall’s mascot, Champ the Cheetah, will transform the building into a full-on Halloween bash. And on the guest list? A few characters who'll be ready for fun and games and wicked treats. Be sure to come in costume.

12. Belmont Boo Festival

Stowe Park
Saturday, October 27, 3pm - until

In the sleepy town of Belmont, a spooky treat awaits all of the little witches and wizards in town during this year’s 2018 Boo Fest. Fun activities, costume contests, carnival rides and other bootastic treats are offered for kids early in the evening, but “If you come for the boos, you should stay for the brews.” As Boo Fest wraps, a "Nightmare on Main Street" will take over the rest of the night with adult-friendly beverages, music and dancing.

13. Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights

Carolina Renaissance Festival
October 27 & 28

Travel back in time for a spellbinding experience. Knights of the Living Dead zombies will joust in an entertaining battle of gory proportions, as kids and parents enjoy a Halloween Treasure Hunt and so much more. Don your best costume and join in with the Carolinas' largest costume party.
